FAQs About Chicken Drinkers

How many drinkers do I need for my chickens?

We've got drinkers ranging from 2 litres to automatic mains pressure or gravity feed systems.

  • A 4-litre drinker can take care of four chickens for up to two days.
  • If you've got eight chickens, we recommend either two 4-litre drinkers or a 20-litre drum drinker.
  • For more than eight chickens, try using multiple 4-litre drinkers in different spots around your coop, set up a twin cup drum drinker, or go for an automatic system for easy, stress-free hydration.

Cups or Nipples - What should I use?

Cups are our go-to for systems that need regular refilling. However, if you're looking at a 20-litre drum drinker, nipples are a fantastic choice. Nipples are a very hygienic way to water your poultry, but they're most reliable when the water pressure stays consistent. Lubing cups are hands down the best option for smaller units like our 2-litre and 4-litre drinkers.

How many cups should I have on my drinker?

One cup works for up to six chickens. If you've got more than six, consider a drinker with at least two cups. Prefer the single-cup drinkers? You can always place two single-cup drinkers in different spots in the coop.

For larger flocks, have a look at our four-cup drum drinker. This large chicken drinker also comes with the option of nipples instead of Lubing cups.

How to clean a Chicken Drinker and the Cups?

To clean 2 and 4-litre containers, use warm soapy water. Avoid using the dishwasher. Cups and nipples can be taken off and cleaned thoroughly. Check out our guide here for detailed instructions.
